"Help us put health knowledge into the hands of children"
Every child deserves access to health information they can understand!
Millions of children face barriers to accessing reliable health information. Health Under Cover empowers children in underserved communities across North Texas by transforming everyday resources into opportunities for learning and health education. Through innovative, sustainable, and community-driven initiatives, we strive to build a future where every child, locally and around the world, has the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their health.
Health Under Cover had a wonderful time at the Frisco Public Library on July 15, engaging 87 children and family members through an interactive hydration presentation, fun games, and hands-on activities. About half of participants had difficulty answering basic hydration questions, showing just how important accessible health education can be for children and families.
Everyone took home a hydration bookmark with simple tips and reminders to keep learning beyond the event. We were so grateful for the overwhelmingly positive feedback from families and loved seeing children learn, participate, and have fun while building healthy habits!
Health Under Cover was excited to bring our healthy sleep habits presentation to Project Transformation’s summer program, reaching 20 children and adults, with most of the children between ages 6–12. It was so encouraging to see how enthusiastic and engaged the children were throughout the presentation. Through interactive activities and discussion, we explored why sleep is important and simple habits children can practice to get better rest.
We used pre- and post-tests to measure learning, with the average score increasing from 2.3 before the presentation to 4.1 afterward — a 78% improvement.
Each child also received a Health Under Cover notebook featuring our sleep-habit education on the cover, giving them something they could continue to use while keeping the lessons and healthy sleep reminders close by. We hope these notebooks will help the children remember what they learned long after the presentation.
